Attract More Dental Patients With Local SEO
SEO for dentists is one of the most cost-effective ways to attract new patients who are actively searching for dental services in your local area.
If your dental practice isn’t appearing in search results when people search for a dentist in your local area, you’ll lose those patients to competitors.

I’ve been helping small businesses improve their online visibility for more than 20 years, and SEO for dental practices is more simple than people think.
On this page, I’ll explain why most local SEO services for Dentists don’t work, how I approach Local SEO, and share details on my SEO pricing and packages.

Why Most SEO Services for Dentists Don’t Work
Most local SEO services for dentists make three common mistakes that prevent dental practices from being found by potential patients online.
1. Ignoring technical SEO issues with your Dental website
No amount of dental SEO work will fix a poor website. If your dental practice website is slow, poorly structured and full of errors, Google and other search engines will penalise you with lower rankings or ignore you altogether.
2. Trying to rank for the most competitive dental keywords
Most SEO companies for Dentists will sell you the dream of ranking on page one for the dental keywords with the highest search volumes.
The problem with trying to rank for the most competitive keywords is that your website likely has little or no domain authority, meaning you will not outrank the more established dental websites that do.
3. Keyword stuffing
When I started to learn about SEO back in 2006, it was common practice to research the top keywords for your dental practice and repeat them everywhere on your page as much as possible.
Not only does that make the page really bad to read for your potential customers, but it simply does not work anymore.
Many SEO consultants and agencies are still using these bad practices, despite Google classifying keyword stuffing as spam, seeing it as a way of you trying to manipulate rankings in search results.
These are just a few of the common SEO mistakes to avoid when doing SEO for dental practices. Some will result in your site not ranking well. Others risk your website being completely excluded from search results.
My Approach to Local SEO for Dentists
Let’s talk about how to do SEO for your dental practice the right way, because you don’t need to use black-hat tactics to make SEO work.
I follow the same proven process when doing local SEO for dentists because I’ve seen it work time and time again.
1. Start with an SEO audit of your dental practice
I use a combination of SEO tools and human experience to scan your website for technical errors, performance issues, content quality and more.
To be honest, it’s normally pretty obvious from looking at your website to see the main problems we need to fix before doing SEO, but a full audit gives me the full picture before putting together a plan.
The website SEO audit will also tell me which (if any) keywords you might already be ranking for, which could give us a head start.
2. Keyword research for Dentists in your local areas
There are literally 100’s of potential patients searching online for a Dentist in and around your local area every day. But they’re using a variety of different search terms.
Some people simply search for ‘Dentists’ in their area, whereas others might search for something more specific like ‘Emergency dental treatment’ or ‘tooth removal’ in their area.
The goal of my keyword research services is to find keywords that have some search volume, are relevant for the services and locations you cover, and with as little competition as possible.
If I tried to compete for the search term ‘SEO London’, I am going to be competing with some of the top SEO agencies in the UK, and I’m humble enough to know I won’t be able to outrank all of them.
The same logic applies whether I’m doing local SEO for a dentist, an accountant or any other small business in the UK.
My strategy is to find niche dental keywords that larger dental practices and marketing agencies often overlook, because this means we’ll be able to get results faster.
For example, if you’re a dentist serving a small town and the surrounding villages, I’d rather help you become the obvious choice in your local area than waste time trying to compete with national dental chains and large city practices.
It’s much easier to get results by ranking for 10 niche keywords with 10 searches per month and low competition than it is to rank for 1 keyword with 100 monthly searches and a lot of competition.
3. Writing good SEO content that converts
There’s no point getting visitors to your dental practice website if they don’t convert into enquiries and new patients, and my SEO copywriting services are designed to do exactly that.
Every important page on your website needs enough content for Google to understand what service you offer, where you offer it and why a customer should choose you over another dental practice.
Good SEO copywriting is probably the most important and time-consuming task when doing SEO for dentists or any other industry.
Luckily for my clients, copywriting has been a passion of mine for many years and is one of my favourite SEO services to deliver.
With a technically sound dental practice website, focus keywords you can actually rank for and persuasive SEO copywriting that converts visitors into enquiries, we can have new patients finding your practice in no time.
